Featuring 5 classic topics/focus areas throughout the week:

It’s Hip to Be Square: Piet Mondrian Inspired Design
(Visual Arts/Drawing & Painting/Graphic Design)

Young artists will learn about the artist Piet Mondrian and his influence on 1960s fashion, design and art. Using bold colors, simplified shapes, and sharp dividing lines, campers will create their own works of art inspired by his distinct abstract style.

Color Me Cool: Tie Dye Never Dies!

Tie dye is truly timeless! Transform traditional folding and dyeing techniques into new patterns and designs.  Make your own artistic statement by using the color wheel to design your unique wearable art.

Knot Fade Away: the Crafty Delights of Macramé
(Visual Arts/Fiber Arts/Crafts)

Join us to explore the ‘art’ of knot tying. Macramé is a fun way of creating useful and decorative objects by knotting rope or twine. We will create a variety of projects including an owl necklace, a keychain and a bracelet.

Write On – Looking Back at the 1960s
(Creative Writing/Storytelling)

Landmark events in the 1960s will provide daily creative writing and storytelling prompts for our campers. Age appropriate stories, songs, poems, TV shows and movies along with individual and group activities will introduce participants to key elements of the culture of that decade. Themes may include the space race, the anti-war protests, animal rights, the environment and civil rights.

Keyboard Karma: Intro to Piano
(Music)

Learn the basics of reading music in this self-paced class. Playing instructional music games and individual practice time on the keyboards are some of the activities students will enjoy every day. Extra enrichment opportunities are provided for campers with intermediate or advanced skills.
