3-Week Summer Youth Arts Institute


The Black Academy of Arts and Letters, Inc. (TBAAL)

Youth ages 10-18 take part in an accelerated three-week intense training session designed specifically for 5th-12th grade students beginning June 5 and ending with three final performances June 23-24. They'll take crash courses in Music, Dance, Theater, Costume Design, Make-Up, Lighting, Stage Management, Photography and Film Production culminating in a large, full-scale, musical theater production of Prince: The Musical, based on the life and music of the world iconic artist.

A lite breakfast will be  provided between 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. daily. Students must be present at 9:00 a.m. Monday - Friday. The day ends at 5:00 p.m. No early drop offs or late pickups. Late pickups after 5:30 p.m. will be assessed a fee of $50 per hour. Students with featured roles in the final production will be scheduled to rehearse on Saturdays.

Student scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the program is supported in part by the Dallas Independent School District Summer Enrichment Program, Big Thought, Dallas' Office of Cultural Affairs and BNSF Railway.

NOTE: 
All DISD students will receive a full Summer Arts Enrichment Scholarship by submitting their DISD student ID number with their application. Summer Enrichment for all non-DISD students is a one-time fee of $150 (cash only). Space is limited, and there are no refunds. 

Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily for Summer Enrichment Students. Also, TBAAL's concession stand will be open for students to purchase snacks.
