Ro2 Art is pleased to welcome artist Allison Belliveau-Proulx for her solo exhibition, Choosing Heroes, an exploration on how the media and social trends affect our perceptions of heroes.
Fictional heroes are given unattainable standards and yet often have flaws to make them more relatable to the average. However, when meeting a real life hero, our perceptions of heroes are so overblown that we fail to recognize them for what they are. Her work collages images from popular culture and iconography to show the ebb and flow of social conscious and how that might affect their perceptions of heroes.
The opening reception will take place Thursday, May 4 from 6-8 p.m., with the show running from April 29 to June 6. Choosing Heroes will be on exhibition at Ro2 Art at The Magnolia, located at 3699 McKinney Ave. Ste. 100 / West Village.
