ABOUT THE TOUR

The tour begins at MARY TOMÁS GALLERY. Participants will view the exhibition FRESH—featuring artists Chong Chu, Juan Alberto Negroni, Ellen Soffer, and Thomas Zanz. FRESH displays the work of four mid-career artists who express their individual artistic language that comment on heritage, personal stories, or country of origin. Refreshments will be provided.

Your 2nd stop is GARDERE WYNNE SEWELL LLP. The law offices moved to a new building at McKinney and Olive. Their art committee worked closely with CADD member, Cris Worley, to choose works that demonstrate an innovative and forward thinking approach to art, as well as focusing on the strength of Texas-based artists. Ms. Worley will conduct the tour.

Then jump on the bus again to visit ERIN CLULEY GALLERY. The gallery presents a solo exhibition of photographic works by Nic Nicosia. In his new series “Living (in) Rooms,” Nicosia creates interior portraits of homes where his work already resides but with added elements such as sculpture and drawings. Refreshments will be provided.

The final stop will be CARNEAL SIMMONS CONTEMPORARY ART. The gallery presents two solo exhibitions: Intersecting Planes, which will feature a variety of paintings and sculpture from the late artist Duayne Hatchett, along with Facets, which will focus on new sculptural works by Arlington-based artist Art Fairchild. Hatchett’s work has been exhibited and collected by art institutions around the world, among them the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Philbrook Museum of Art, the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Japan, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Dallas Museum of Art. Refreshments will be provided.

ABOUT CADD

Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas (CADD) is a non-profit organization of galleries formed in 2006 for the purpose of promoting the advancement of contemporary art on all levels. All proceeds from CADD events and the DBA Art Tour assist with scholarship and educational programs for local artists and students. Each year CADD offers grants to local artists and a scholarship to a graduating high school senior from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. The scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a fine arts degree at an accredited university or art institute. The scholarship may be used for tuition, books, equipment, travel, and/or supplies assisting the student in their academic endeavors. www.caddallas.net
