Brooklyn artist Olivia Divecchia's photo and text installation Dig/Site will open at The Reading Room and will be on display May 13 through June 17. There will be a conversation between the artist and guest curator Temple Shipley at 6 pm followed by a reception.
The Dig/Site project explores digging as an action that is at once physical and metaphorical. In May 2015, Divecchia began digging holes with a shovel along beaches of the East Coast and documenting her actions. She meditates on the creation and destruction of meaning. Devecchia grew up in Argyle, Texas and earned a BFA from Southern Methodist University in 2010. She will be pursuing a MFA in studio art at Hunter College this fall. Dig/Site is the artist's first solo exhibition.
