Experts from the field of science and nature, Amanda Stone Norton, Melody Alcazar, and Melissa Paschke, will discuss ways that parents, teachers and other adults can help foster a deep appreciation and love for nature in the next generation. Panelists will elaborate on successes and challenges in this field, and provide examples for ways in which Texas has taken the lead on reversing the "nature deficit" in our country. Moderated by Haily Summerford.

The former Houston Texan player and Lake Highlands High School graduate will read from his brand-new picture book Smitty Tackles Bullying, a follow-up to his first book, Smitty Hits the Play Books. Wade will discuss his passion for reading as well as tell the story of growing up as child learning to balance football and reading.

Black Artivism: Raising Awareness Through Art
Join us for a discussion with authors Rickie Clark, LyTisa Green, Keith Thomas Walker, Renée Watson, and local teens about using their writing to raise awareness on issues such as police brutality, depression and more. They will also discuss how using artistic talents can be a form of therapy to help young people cope with everyday issues.
