In its third year, Fiesta Tecaliso, a Cinco de Mayo concert celebration, is an event of merging cultures, musical styles and outright fun! Produced by the U.S.-Mexico Cultural and Educational Foundation, the event brings together legendary mariachi band, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and pairs them with the superb Irving Symphony Orchestra. Fiesta Tecaliso is a combination of the two names, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and The Irving Symphony Orchestra, (ISO). This symbolizes the merging artistic fusion of the two musical styles.
Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán was created in 1897, and is considered the best Mariachi in Mexico. In the decades that followed, it became the quintessential mariachi. It has made numerous recordings and appeared in more than 200 films.
The Irving Symphony Orchestra (ISO) is a non-profit organization originated as the Irving String Orchestra in 1961, and through the years it has established itself as one of the finest symphony orchestras in North Texas. Under the direction of Maestro Héctor Guzmán (ISO Musical Director), this incredible ensemble will present traditional songs from Mexico, making it a one-of-a-kind event to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the Dallas/Fort Woth Metroplex Area.
