The Diaspora New Orleans Remix with Michelle Gibson

The Diaspora New Orleans Remix is a workshop that will explore social, urban and communal street dances of New Orleans. From the Under Ground at WYLD radio station where they bounced and p-popped to buck jumping on Super Sundays at the Second Lines, the Diaspora New Orleans Remix will explore the rich history of New Orleans social dance and movement traditions.

Michelle N. Gibson, choreographer, instructor, and performing artist received her B.F.A in Dance from Tulane University and her MFA in Dance and Performance Studies from Hollins University/American Dance Festival at Duke University. Ms. Gibson is a New Orleans native and studied at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, the American Dance Festival, Jacob's Pillow, and with Urban Bush Women. Ms. Gibson is a faculty member at the American Dance Festival Summer Intensive at Duke University. She also teaches at Brookhaven College and Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas.
