Presented by the Dallas Area Cultural Advocacy Coalition (DACAC), the 10th Annual Dallas Arts Advocacy Day is an excellent opportunity for everyone interested in the arts to learn more about current issues facing the arts as well as new initiatives and concepts. Beginning with a luncheon at 12:00 p.m., the event is highlighted by a keynote address on cultural policy by Julie Burros, Chief of Arts and Culture for the City of Boston. Burros leads Boston Creates, the cultural plan for Boston, the Boston Cultural Council, which makes grants to artists and organizations, and the Boston Art Commission, which commissions and approves public art.
The event also features two advocacy sessions: Community Organizing & Effective Advocacy at 1:45 p.m. with Anne Graham, Executive Director of Texans for the Arts, and Ernest McMillan, Cara Mia Theatre's Curator for Community Action, and Audience Development through High Touch Marketing at 3:15 p.m. with Douglas W. Kinzey of Audience Strategies for the Arts Inc. and Brad Pritchett, Director of Marketing/Communications for Dallas Theater Center.
