Summer Art Camp: Ages 5-7

Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

Our popular Art Camp at the Modern is back!    The Modern's unique programs for young artists emphasize learning through direct observation of art and thoughtful activities inspired by the permanent collection and current exhibition. This introduces students to some of the complex and challenging concepts and practices behind modern and contemporary art. Distinguished area artists design and lead art activities based on the works in the galleries. Activities encompass everything from art making in the traditional sense to interdisciplinary exploration.     Grouped by age and accompanied by their counselors, art campers spend time in the galleries and on the grounds exploring the art and architecture, followed by time in the museum studio where they work with two artists each session. Instructors provide enriching opportunities to process, apply, and respond to ideas formed in relation to the art on view. The last day of camp ends with a reception and display of the campers' artwork to celebrate their creative accomplishments with family and friends. Campers make exciting discoveries concerning art, the world, and themselves through Art Camp at the Modern.   Ages 5-7: June 12-16, 9 a.m. - noon   Members $135, Nonmembers $155 This camp is led by two artists, and campers rotate between two classrooms of studio instruction. A snack is provided each day.   Online registration begins Friday, March 24, at www.themodern.org. For questions, please call 817.840.2121 or e-mail [email protected]
