Colorful geometric shapes with the illusion of dimensionality will pop from the walls of the museum in this three-month show featuring paintings of Italian-born Benini. The Geometric and MADI Museum hosts four shows each year, selected from artists worldwide in this specialized genre. Benini painted roses for 20 years, then abruptly dropped that symbol to concentrate on spheres, triangles and cubes combined into compositions that appear dimensional. Occasionally adding ribbons for lyricism, the paintings push, pull and open in ways that belie the mind and eye.
