The Necessities

Bryant Hall - on the Kalita Humphreys Campus

Second Thought Theatre presents the world premiere of  "The Necessities" by local playwright/actor/director and SMU professor Blake Hackler.

Peter's a former minister yearning to escape his past. Debbie's a disgruntled Walmart employee hoping to do the same. Carly's an eccentric Reiki therapist looking for love, and her estranged son Ward has a penchant for "Battlestar Galactica." Set against the backdrop of a small east Texas town, the lives of these strangers intersect as they desperately search for intimacy and connection. But the center can’t hold, at least not in a town like this, and each of them will have to decide how much they are willing to give to get what they need.

Pay-What-You-Can tickets can be purchased at the box office the night of the performance. The box office opens one hour prior to show time and PWYC tickets will be sold based on availability. If you would like to secure your tickets in advance to a performance designated PWYC, you may purchase them online at the regular adult ticket price.

$15 student tickets are available for all performances of  "The Necessities." Student tickets can be purchased at the box office the night of the performance with a valid student ID.
