SAVAGES 2016 is a high-end pop-up art exhibition featuring some of Dallas' amazing talent pool of painters, sculptors, photographers and more. Each artist will be creating works specifically for this dedication. Every artist was selected for his or her unique connection to Dallas and the influence of artist, Frank Campagna. Collectively this group of creatives represents over 225 years of shaking things up in the arts. This one time only exhibition is driven by the force of one of Dallas' true Savages - Frank Campagna.
Select works by glass artist Carlyn Ray and several other Dallas artists will be included for design aesthetics. 50+ works on 20”x20” canvas will be created by several Dallas artists/art collectives that represent a “Frank Campagna/Dallas culture tribute” work of art. A dedicated area will feature artist Frank Campagna that will include: printed bio/story, timeline, photos, past works, and a new body of work.

FRANK CAMPAGNA has been a working artist in the Dallas area since 1979. Having cut his teeth via the music and nightclub industries, Campagna provided countless artwork for legendary live music venues including the Agora Ballroom, Bronco Bowl, Gypsy Tea Room and currently for House of Blues, also creating on-demand works for acts such as the Rolling Stones, Guns & Roses, The Eagles and U-2.
Considered the ‘Godfather of Deep Ellum’, Campagna has been instrumental in the revitalization of the historic neighborhood, beginning with hosting musical acts at Studio D, his visual art space, in the early 1980’s, to spearheading various public art projects including the Good Latimer tunnel murals known as Tunnelvisions. In the early 2000’s, Campagna played a key role in negotiating the replacement of the tunnels, resulting in the ‘new gateway’ to the neighborhood.
In 2005, Campagna founded Kettle Art Gallery to m mentor and promote emerging and mid-career North Texas artists. Over the years, the gallery has received numerous awards and recognitions, including USA Today’s 10 Best Art Galleries in Dallas, the Dallas Observer Readers’ Choice for Best Art Gallery and the 2014/2015 DFW Art Award for Best Art gallery. In 2014, Campagna was named one of “The Dallas 40”, a list recognizing Dallas citizens who have made a remarkable impact on the city, in celebration of D Magazine’s 40th anniversary.

Following in the spirit of this creative, unique neighborhood, we are committed to providing a venue for local and emerging artists to show their work.
Kettle is run by artists.. for artists, on a purely volunteer basis.
Kettle Art started as a collaboration between Frank Campagna & Kirk Hopper, they looked to bring back life to the streets of Deep Ellum by focusing on the area's artistic heritage. Kettle Art brings the best of emerging local artists to a venue that allows them to learn & thrive as they continue developing their talents.
