URGENT CASTING CALL for 'In The Tall Grass' (R&D Week)

Oak Cliff Cultural Center

** IN THE TALL GRASS **

URGENT CASTING

 OVERVIEW

'In The Tall Grass' is a *verbatim play, written in response to the growing murder rate of transgender women in the United States. Set against the backdrop of this national atrocity, the play follows the story of Shade Schuler - a transwoman of colour whose decomposed body was found in a field in the Dallas medical district in July 2015.

With funding from the City of Dallas, we are running a research and development week (R&D) from May 23 to May 28. During this six-day period, playwright, Paul Kalburgi and director, Anna Jones will workshop sections of the first-draft script with six actors and a music composer. The week will close with a short presentation of findings from the week for an invited audience.

*Verbatim theatre is a form of documentary theatre in which plays are constructed from the precise words spoken by people interviewed about a particular event or topic.
