An exhibition of paintings by Ada “Pete” Fernandez, an Irving artist beloved for her ability to capture the history and heritage of the city, is currently on display in the Arts Center's Focus Gallery. A series of plein air landscapes depicting the formerly rural areas of Irving and Las Colinas (c.1955 - 1985) are featured in the exhibition, many of the earlier ones done under the tutelage of her teacher, Reveau Bassett, the popular wildlife painter and noted pioneer Texas artist. Other works in the exhibit include still-lifes, seascapes, western scenes and historic landmarks of Irving.
