Beautiful Souls: Artwork By Sierra Barnes
We are excited to have a brand new artist for this upcoming show. Just in time for Mother’s Day, Sierra Barnes offers the kind of beautiful art that pairs well with honoring the sacred energy of the feminine. Join us for an opening reception from 7-10 p.m. April 29 at Art Is Life Studio.
At 19 years old, Sierra is self-taught artist born and raised in Dallas, Texas. In 2002 she was diagnosed with Craniopharyngioma, a type of brain tumor derived from pituitary gland embryonic tissue. This as well as other obstacles and challenges in her life have not stopped her from pursuing her artistic passion. It has instead inspired and motivated her as an artist as well as a person.
“Nobody’s perfect but everyone has beauty within them. These pieces of art I have created were inspired by my own struggles and experiences,” Sierra said.
Sierra is also a writer and writes a poem to go along with every single piece of art she creates. Each of them are hand-written and attached to the back of the painting.
“This art show is about how we are the souls within us and not just our bodies,” Sierra said. “We can find beauty within our flaws and imperfections. We judge one another and we sometimes judge ourselves.”
We look forward to seeing you. There will be light snacks served as well as non-alcoholic beverages keeping in the studio’s mission of providing a safe, sober space for individuals in recovery.
