Julie Libersat: Infinite Loop
WHERE: Ro2 Art at 1501 South Ervay, Dallas, TX 75215
WHEN: April 2 - May 1, 2016
OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, April 2, 7-10pm
Ro2 Art is pleased to welcome Denton-based artist Julie LIbersat, who will present 'Infinite Loop,' the exciting inaugrual exhibition in the Ro2 Art Project Room inside the new gallery at 1501 S Ervay Street in The Cedars neighborhood of Dallas.
'Infinite Loop' is a mixed media video installation that explores the navigation experience of the Texas highway systems. A 3d printed infinite loop, or circle eight is submerged inside of an aquarium that rests on a traffic median in the center of the gallery. A video drive-through of the 3d model is visible through and around the aquarium holding on a wall-mounted monitor. Infinite Loop represents a very possible future in which rising sea levels and flooding threatens our modern infrastructures and lifestyle. The form of the highway interchange and the looping video slowly driving around the circuit, highlight the endless cycle of commuting and consumption in our car-centric economy that will ultimately result in ecological destruction.
