SPONTANEOUS SYMMETRY
KATE COLIN
April 9, - May 1, 2016
Spontaneous Symmetry is a solo exhibition of paintings that suggest a twisted theory of everything, where a fragmented space exists in various states of activity. Disparate layers of media expose paint washes, graphite drawing, and soft brushwork. Each painting integrates an underlying axis of symmetry while subsequent layers of contrasting shape and color negate the initial simplification. This process-driven work seeks unification of oppositional elements.
