Sammons Jazz: Leigh Tomlinson Memorial Concert

Sammons Center for the Arts

Sammons Jazz presents two talented female jazz vocalists at its annual Leigh Tomlinson Memorial Concert, a tribute to the series' longtime volunteer and audience favorite. Singing, composing, and producing jazz “just because,” Candace “Mahogany” Miller captivates audiences with her abililty to fuse familiar tunes and original material into an unforgettable show. Joining her is a top-notch band: Shaun Martin on piano, Jason Davis on sax and woodwinds, Stuart Mack on trumpet, Young Heo on bass, and Andrew Griffith on drums.

The definitive international jazz vocalist, Nina Katrina mixes Brazilian jazz with soulful folk and blues in four different languages.  She fronts a talented band that includes Richard Martin on piano, and Dennis Durick on drums.

Presenting great jazz since 1989, Sammons Jazz is held at the Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines at Oak Lawn. Ticket prices are regular $40 and $35 for members with open seating for all. Ticket prices include beverages, a light meal, and valet parking. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; the performance begins approximately at 7:30 p.m. Each performance features two sets of about an hour each with an intermission between. Dress is casual.
