Sammons Jazz: The Legacy of Jazz

Sammons Center for the Arts

SOLD OUT

A professional pianist, songwriter, and composer for more than 30 years, William Foley is known for his delightful and fresh take on harmony and melody. His ensemble includes four accomplished alums of the acclaimed UNT One O’Clock Lab Band: Pete Clagett on trumpet, Mario Cruz on sax, Jeffry Eckels on bass, and Matt Young on drums.

Whether playing together or individually, magic happens when four great jazz trumpeters perform the music of legends like Louis Armstrong, Chet Baker, and Clark Terry. Led by Larry Spencer, this incomparable group called the Brothers in B includes trumpeters Rodney Booth, Freddie Jones, and Dr. Oscar Passley with an equally-impressive rhythm section: pianist Stefan Karlsson, bassist John Adams, and drummer Mike Drake.

Presenting great jazz since 1989, Sammons Jazz is held at the Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines at Oak Lawn. Ticket prices are regular $40 and $35 for members with open seating for all. Ticket prices include beverages, a light meal, and valet parking. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; the performance begins approximately at 7:30 p.m. Each performance features two sets of about an hour each with an intermission between. Dress is casual. For more information or to order tickets, call the Sammons Center at (214) 520-7788; all major credit cards are accepted.
