Kimbell Art Museum

These documentary films explore key moments in the modernization and re-envisioning of the urban landscape of Paris, from Baron Haussmann’s radical renovations in the 1860s under Emperor Napoleon III to modern-day planning for the great city’s future. Offered in conjunction with the special exhibition Gustave Caillebotte: "The Painter’s Eye," these films recall the dramatic transformation of Paris witnessed by the artist, illustrate the dynamic evolution of an iconic city, and chronicle challenges in urban development.
