Dallas College Galleries would like to welcome students, faculty, and those in the surrounding community to please join us in Gallery 219 on Thursday February 9 from 2 - 4pm for a reception with artist Francisco Araujo.
Francisco Josue Alvarado Araujo’s work is the result of trying to give a second life to refused items that have been collected from curbsides and dumpsters in/directly. The items undergo light alteration and arrangement during installation that expand on their previous function, origin, and history. They will later return to their initial state. Temporary, precarious, and fragile, the assemblages depend on the points of contact between units of matter and language, with consideration to their materiality. Their commonplace appearance opens a dialogue with their surroundings and transmits playful and poetic entanglements on topics surrounding immigration, trash, family, and time.
