4th Hallam Family Concert - "Renaissance"

Central Commons

In this concert of pieces for violin, viola, and cello, listeners trace the entirety of classical evolution, from the earliest, pre-instrumental works for voices alone to the revolutionary innovations found in modern string writing.

While string trios existed before Mozart's time, none compared with his revolutionary Divertimento in E flat Major. A musical giant for violin, viola and cello, this work pushed these instruments to new possibilities, and transformed the future of chamber music.

Program:

W. A. Mozart, Divertimento in E flat Major, K. 563

Performers include:

Alexander Kerr, Meredith Kufchak, and Juliette Herlin
