SceneShop Returns With its First Summer Show in Two Years!
Each Scene in "Like the Song Says..." References a Different Song Lyric
In August, SceneShop returns to the Arts Fifth Avenue stage for the first time since 2019. This summer's theme is "Like the Song Says..," in which each original scene or monologue references a song lyric, or several lyrics. Music- and especially lines and phrases that we know so well- informs much of how we process the world and events around us. The lyrics referenced in the scenes may well be meaningful to members of the audience; they definitely should be recognizable.
"Like the Song Says..." premieres on Saturday, August 6 and continues the following weekend, on Friday and Saturday, August 12 and 13. Each show will begin at 8:00 pm, with live music before the show and at intermission.
Tickets are $15.00, and can be purchased via the Events page at www.artsfifthavenue.org. Reservations can be made by calling A5A at 817 923-9500.
The acting ensemble for the show includes Rob Bosquez, Steven Cashion, Debbie Dacus, Joshua Eguia, Alexandria Fazzari, Peggy Bott Kirby, Steven McGaw, Tyler Moore, Susan van Belkum and Nadine Villarreal, performing works written by Eguia, McGaw, Natalie Gaupp, Bob Francis and Straton Rushing.
On opening night, music before the show and at intermission will be provided by Bruce Payne; Willienatra will perform on the second weekend.
Founded in 1996, SceneShop is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization.
