2022-2023 Diamond Anniversary Symphonic Concert Season

Irving Arts Center

Our spectacular 2022-2023 season opens with the iconic music from several James Bond 007 movies, a musical glance at a famous 19th-century hero, a world premiere and one of the most romantic piano concerts of all time, performed by an internationally acclaimed piano virtuoso, Sheng Cai. . .the perfect opening night!

This year, the Vocal Majority is celebrating its 50th anniversary.  The festivities continue as the ISO presents this multi-award-winning vocal ensemble based in Dallas, singing not only their amazing acapella selections, including a tribute to Veteran's Day but also their signature arrangements with orchestra.  This fantastic musical event is one that cannot be missed!

The ISO's Home for the Holidays concert continues to be a favorite for the entire family  When you take to the stage your favorite carols, a choir., a visitor from the North Pole, a singalong, a talented pianist Joslin Dsouza with new and fresh arrangements, and your awesome orchestra, no wonder this continues to be one of Irving's best-known musical events!  See you there!  Ho, Ho, Ho!

Our first concert of the New Year features our enormously successful ISO/SMU composer-in-residence world premiere.  Furthermore, world-renowned jazz violinist and UNT faculty professor, Scott Tixier, will offer some of his outstanding compositions for jazz violin and orchestra.  The concert will conclude with the magnificent Symphony No. 1 by German composer Johannes Brahms. . .nothing better to start the new year!

The ancient Mayas is one of the most fascinating cultures in history because of their art, architecture, science, knowledge of the cosmos and rich artist traditions.  The documentary "Night of the Mayas" was a 1939 film that captured some of that Mayan life through the musical genius of Mexican composer, Silvestre Revueltas.  Enhanced by a multi-media presentation of fascinating images, this concert promises to be a thrilling experience.  The evening begins with one of Gershwin's most colorful scores, and the beautiful soothing sounds of the Texas Guitar Quartet compliments this wonderful night of music.

The ISO spectacular season comes to a close with SUPER DIAMOND, a band that pays tribute to the music of one of the most successful songwriters/singers ever--Neil Diamond.  Come and enjoy some of his greatest hits:  Hello Again, I am I said, Coming to America, Cherry Cherry, September Morn, and of course, Sweet Caroline.  You will be singing and dancing!  It's a fitting conclusion to a fabulous season. . .see you at the Symphony!
