"retrospectator” Kristen Cochran

Moudy Gallery

January 13 – 27, 2022

The Art Galleries at TCU are delighted to host Kristen Cochran in Moudy Gallery January 13 – 27. For this two-week period, Cochran will enact a type of “mid-career survey,” using the gallery as a container in which to review and catalogue recent projects and stage previously unseen and in-progress works.

As a micro-residency, Cochran will work in-situ altering aspects of the installation and making site-specific interventions over time. She will host ‘office hours’ to meet with students, faculty and guests for informal discussion and critique. In this way Cochran’s durational endeavor reflects the creative function of an artist’s studio and, significantly for student audiences, a classroom. She will share aspects of her practice including material and spatial choices as well as practical aspects of her work that have evolved during the contingent time of the COVID pandemic.

At the end of the two-week period, Cochran will present her findings in the gallery with an informal artist talk at noon on Thursday, January 27th. In the Fall of 2022 she will return to Moudy Gallery to present an exhibition of new works derived from this period of review and reflection.

Drop by Moudy Gallery to see Cochran’s work in progress during regular gallery hours or email to make an appointment to meet with Cochran ([email protected]).
