Run the John Wayne Grit Series

Fort Worth Stockyards

The John Wayne Grit Series, an innovative and inspirational series of running events, allows runners to run or walk through rugged western landscapes and actual iconic movie sets where John Wayne once sauntered, all while raising valuable funds for cancer research and treatment. First held in 2019 in California, the Grit Series now expands to include destinations in Arizona and Texas and seeks to raise money and awareness for the John Wayne Cancer Foundation’s continued efforts to beat back cancer at every turn.

The Fort Worth run will begin in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, adjacent to the new John Wayne Experience. All run participants will receive free admission to the exhibit following the race.

John Wayne believed in finding a cure for cancer. A survivor of lung cancer who ultimately succumbed to stomach cancer in 1979, the Duke was adamant about helping all people with cancer, regardless of color or creed, beat the illness. This cancer organization founded in his honor is a true, lasting legacy of which Wayne would be proud.
