Ghost Studio is a community art project inviting visitors to co-create photographic self-portraits with artists as a way to communicate their personal experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ghost Studio artists will hold space— offering participants a place to share or reflect. Emily Riggert and Rachel Rushing will provide creative prompts and collaborative exercises before the photography begins. Ghost Studio photographers Kael Alford, Ciara Elle Bryant, Greta Diaz, Diane Durant and Christopher Sonny Martinez will make the portraits however, visitors’ experiences and stories will help shape each photograph.
To help visualize these experiences, participants may wear meaningful clothing or bring objects that speak to their own personal stories for us to photograph. Objects to be photographed might represent the presence or the absence of another person. These symbolic objects can be anything - mementos of departed loved ones or other personal items, photographs, flowers, pottery, jewelry, trophies, masks, etc.
Household members or close friends may be photographed together.
