World History of Textile Arts: Spinning and Weaving
Let’s work our way through the World History of Textile Arts, with a focus on Spinning and Weaving! There is a world of work in the textile arts and so many ways to transform fibers into fabric. We will sample a wide variety of materials as we create a reference book to keep our notes and projects.

BRONZE AGE Working with Bast Fibers
Explore Bast Fibers -We will use Late Neolithic style Spindles with hand made clay whorls (and pinch-pots as support bowls) while we learn to spin nettle-roving into thread. Once we have a few yards of thread, we will explore knotting and braiding with bast fibers, and plait a magical bracelet. Students will take home a hemp bracelet and a sample of fibers for further exploration. Spindles will be available for purchase for new students.
