Championing the Public Realm: A Conversation with James Burnett, FASLA, founder of OJB Landscape Architecture and Mark Lamster, Architecture Critic, Dallas Morning News

Nasher Sculpture Center

Presented by the Nasher Sculpture Center and AIA Dallas, join James Burnett, FASLA, founder of OJB Landscape Architecture and noted critic Mark Lamster of the Dallas Morning News as they discuss the challenges of building resilient cities that meet the needs of all people.

Best known for his award-winning design of Klyde Warren Park, and its stunning impact on Dallas, Burnett will present the changing imperatives of public parks as places for equity, engagement, reflection, and climate action. The duo will discuss lessons learned from several compelling public parks featured in a new monograph, Envisioning Landscapes, published by The Monacelli Press/Phaidon, as well as what’s ahead for the changing public realm in Dallas. A book-signing will follow the interactive talk.

With a donation of $25 or more, attendees will receive a copy of Envisioning Landscapes: The Transformative Environments of OJB, published by The Monacelli Press (value $50).

All proceeds will benefit the K-12 education programs of AD EX and the Architecture and Design Foundation, which allowstudents to not only learn about career paths in architecture, design, and engineering, but also explore how to use design to become better stewards of their neighborhoods and champions for a more functional, beautiful, and equitable city.

Doors Open at 5:30 p.m. Masks are Kindly Required.
