Alisha Ballesteros, Architect, Partner, and Project Director with JSa, is here for a special Tuesday Evenings presentation in conjunction with this year’s Fort Worth AIA Design Awards. Ballesteros joined JSa in 2007 and became a partner in 2011. Since then, her work has contributed to the atelier’s mission to reconvert, rehabilitate, restore, reoccupy, and re-inhabit the urban fabric. Ballestros delves into projects such as the Juan Soriano Morelos Museum of Contemporary Art (also known as MMAC Juan Soriano) in her presentation “Mexico: Designing for Public Space and Culture.”
Alisha Ballesteros holds a master’s degree in XXI Century Housing from the Ibero-American University (UIA) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). Ballesteros has overseen key academic projects, such as the Federico Mariscal Chair exhibition at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), while cultivating a teaching practice in the form of workshops, projects, and seminars at the University of Texas, the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, and the Ibero-American University. She has been awarded by the Mexico City Architecture Biennial for her work on the Carlos Monsiváis Library (Silver Medal, 2013) and the MMAC Juan Soriano (Gold Medal, 2019). Most recently, Ballesteros received the Gold Medal at the Mexican Architecture Biennial for her work on the MMAC Juan Soriano (2020).
This popular series of lectures and presentations by artists, architects, historians, and critics is free and open to the public. Lectures begin at 7 pm in the Modern’s auditorium. Seating is at 6:30 pm. A livestream broadcast of the lecture will be available here.
A limited number of tickets (limit two per person) will be available for purchase ($5) from 10 am until 4 pm the day of the lecture online. Free admission tickets (limit two per person) are available at the Modern’s information desk beginning at 5 pm on the day of the lecture.
On Tuesday nights during the lecture series, the galleries are open until 7 pm and Café Modern’s bar is open (no food service available.) Lectures will not be broadcast into the café this season.
Following CDC recommendations, face masks or cloth face coverings are required for entry to the museum for visitors over the age of 2. This includes in the auditorium and in Café Modern when not at your table or consuming food and beverages.
