Lakefront Live! with Jess Garland

Bath House Cultural Center

Our new Lakefront Live! concert series launches on September 14! All shows are free to the public and take place in our indoor-outdoor Lake Level space on the shore of White Rock Lake. Bring your friends and family to enjoy our incredible local performers!

Jess Garland is a Dallas based singer/songwriter, recording and performing artist. She is a multi-instrumentalist, using a combination of harp and guitar loops evoking elements of ambient folk and celestial tones.

To date, Jess has received grants for Aurora’s 2018 Future Worlds theme for her performance “Resurrecting Gaia” in October 2018 at Kettle Art Gallery (and featured nationally in New York Magazine’s Vulture section), from the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs for “Take Me Oya” in April 2019 during Dallas Arts Month at South Dallas Cultural Center, and most recently from The Nasher Sculpture Center to record her single “Live Again” and create a music video on Fair Park grounds.

Garland’s work in film includes co-producing and composing the musical score for “Their Lives Mattered: A Dialogue Honoring Stolen Lives” which is billed as a collaborative art project in remembrance of lives lost at the hands of Dallas law enforcement officers. Jess is also the executive producer and composer on the film “Harp & Sol,” which honors the lives and land affected by environmental racism by uplifting the voices of communities and organizations led by Black women.

Jess is an educator and has a non-profit free music education program, Swan Strings that has been featured in Dallas Morning News, Advocate Magazine and D Magazine. She is also the Executive Director of Girls Rock Dallas.
