The Slow Down Symposium

Women's Building at Fair Park

DALLAS IS ABOUT TO SLOW DOWN!

Here at Curate Local, we’re always looking for ways to live more sustainable, intentional lives. From the clothes we wear to the food we eat to the ways we spend our time, we strive to be responsible and thoughtful as we opt more and more for our community over consumerism. Enter The Slow Down Symposium, an event in collaboration with The Considerary, celebrating your imperfect progress toward a more sustainable world!

SCHEDULE:

10AM - DOORS OPEN -
Welcome to The Slow Down Symposium! Check in to get a free tote bag (first 50 guests), take a deep breath, and grab a coffee or juice to kick off your day.

10AM-5PM - SUSTAINABLE MARKET -
Peruse our sustainable artisan market, full of small shops offering ethically-sourced and sustainably-made goods! You’ll find makers, curators and artisans passionate about the planet and our place in it! Keep wandering and you’ll find representatives from North Texas farmers markets ready to tell you all about where you can find locally-sourced foods from a local market near you!

10:30AM-4PM - WORKSHOPS -
Our workshops officially begin! All throughout the day, you’ll find local artisans and makers excited to teach you fun ways to take small steps toward sustainability! From planting and caring for your own succulent terrarium and indigo dying an old t-shirt to basic mending and improved self-sustainability through the Enneagram, these workshops will be the catalyst toward improving our sustainability! Make sure to grab your tickets for the workshops you’re excited about soon as each class has a limited capacity!

11AM-3PM - SPEAKERS & PANELS -
We’ve broken our speaker-panel sessions into three categories: Slow Food (11am-12pm), Slow Fashion(1pm-2pm) and Lifestyle(2pm-3pm)! Each hour, we’ll welcome experts to speak for eight to ten minutes each, touching on the importance of thinking and acting sustainably and ways we can all take practical steps in our day-to-day lives that will add up to big changes for us and our planet! Each hour will end with all speakers sitting for a Q&A panel.

3PM-4PM - KEYNOTE SPEAKER -
Our special keynote speaker will share her personal journey toward sustainability, her day-to-day decisions that help keep her on the path and intentional ways to remain sustainable that make sense for our busy lives.

5PM - AND THAT’S A WRAP! GO AND BE SUSTAINABLE!
