What lessons can we learn about relevance and resilience from high-performing arts organizations that primarily serve communities of color? How do they establish and maintain deep connections with the communities they serve and that sustain them, and what are the distinctive challenges they encounter in doing so? This session will provide participants an opportunity to explore the second phase of research, which will be released on March 9, on successful strategies employed by high-performing arts organizations that can be considered for adoption or adaptation by others. The webinar will specifically explore the perspectives of 21 leaders from arts organizations serving communities of color, including performing arts organizations (dance, music/orchestra, theater, performing arts center, and multidisciplinary performing arts sectors) and community-based arts organizations (folk arts, cultural and ethnic awareness, and general arts and culture sectors), with a track record of high performance along seven financial and operating metrics in recent years.

This session will share the lessons from these leaders and provide guidance to organizations that seek a path linking strategy and financial sustainability.
