King’s Path of Social Gospel - Virtual Event

Virtual Event - Tarrant County

In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, join Dr. Dwight Watson for the virtual presentation “King's Path of Social Gospel” as he discusses the concept of Social Gospel and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at 6 p.m. Mon., Jan. 18.

In the virtual program presented by the Fort Worth Public Library and City of Fort Worth’s Diversity and Inclusion Department, Dr. Watson will speak on the challenge in the novel Just above My Head by James Baldwin. The novel which examines the dream of us as a community improving our own beloved world by putting something before ourselves.

Dr. Watson will envision how the Social Gospel movement would address police violence and a renewed sense of racial regression, and will close the program with the blessings of faith in oneself and one's community.

Dr. Watson is an Associate Professor of History at Texas State University. His specializations include African American History and the Civil Rights Movement. He is interested in how race and law impact United States History.
