Holocaust Memory in the Post-War Period - Virtual event

Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum

The conversation will take place on the online platform ZoomA link to join will be sent to registered guests via email one hour before the start of the program.

The conclusion of World War II may have marked the end of the Holocaust, but it also began the process of facing its effects and coping with the memory of a brutal chapter in history. What did Holocaust memory look like in the immediate aftermath of liberation? How did survivors grapple with trauma and loss while attempting to build lives in unfamiliar places? How did their new communities react to the arrival of thousands of displaced persons and the emerging news of what they had endured? Join Dr. Beth Cohen, Lecturer in Religious Studies and Jewish Studies at California State University Northridge, and Dr. Atina Grossmann, Professor of History at The Cooper Union, for a conversation about postwar Holocaust memory in the United States and Germany.

This program is part of the Museum's Permanent Exhibition Highlight Series.
