The Oak Cliff Cultural Center continues its Facebook Live virtual artist chat series with Jas. Mardis.

Mardis is a writer and fabric artist with a lot of life between those two titles. In everything, he is a storyteller and try to keep folklore and family stories at the core of it all. His work is between mixed media, assemblage and folk artist with a constant ear to the everyday materials of life reaching out to my creative bent. Mardis is a Dallas-Oak Cliff/10th Street raised and educated with Dallas Baptist College and El Centro College studies in Journalism and English. 2014 inductee of The Texas Literary Hall of Fame, 2000 Pushcart Prize for Poetry and various other Writing Awards. Three GRIOT AWARDS from National Association of Black Journalists for Radio Commentary.
