Look Club/Architecture

Old City Park

Look Club is a month-long observational drawing event hosted by The Cedars Union in partnership with Dallas Heritage Village. Each session, held at Dallas Heritage Village on Saturdays in October from 11am to 2pm, will focus on a different subject accompanied by a short talk from a local artist who utilizes that subject in their practice.

October 24th’s event will focus on Architecture and feature Peter Ligdon who paints architecture and built environments on-site, often in a single sitting . The talk will start the event, followed by 2.5 hours of open drawing. With the park’s collection of restored buildings and storefronts from 1870-1910, participants will have ample subjects to choose from. Please bring any art supplies you’d like to use in addition to a chair, blanket, easel, or drawing board. There will be no formal instruction but all levels are welcome to exercise observational skills while enjoying the act of concentration through drawing. Outside food and drink is allowed.

Dallas Heritage Village is a living history museum located across the street from The Cedars Union on Ervay Street, set within Old City Park, Dallas’s first city park created in 1874. The grounds feature turn of the century buildings and houses, green lawns, and shady live oaks. In open air and expansive grounds this gathering offers participants the ability to meet safely, with drawing areas being spread out to enable physical distance.

For this event Dallas Heritage Village is offering discounted admission for $5. Please pay at the entrance of the park.
