Origami Crane Peace Art

Irving Public Library: Valley Ranch Library

To celebrate International Peace Day in September, the Irving community is challenged to create 1,000 origami cranes between Aug. 15 through Sept. 15 to be included in art installations. Origami paper kits are available to take home by stopping by the South, West or Valley Ranch Library outdoor drive-up locations and curbside, or at a community partner site. Participants are also welcome to use paper from home.

Once the creation is complete, share photos with #IrvingCranes! Then take the finished artwork to a library location so it may be part of the collaborative displays. Please use the library drive-up or curbside areas during open hours only, and please do not submit the cranes in a book return drop.

Library locations:
South Irving Library, 601 Schulze Drive.
Valley Ranch Library, 401 Cimarron Trail.
West Irving Library, 4444 W. Rochelle Road.

Library hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The libraries are closed on Monday, Sept. 7.
