VIRTUAL ART WORKSHOP: Making A Folded Log-Cabin Quilt Square

VIRTUAL:  Making A Folded Log-Cabin Quilt
Class Date: Thursday, August 13, 6-8pm
Shipping registration Deadline: August 3rd
Local registration and pickup: August 12 between 12-4pm
Location: Your home!
Instructor: Aaron Sanders Head

Participants will begin by learning about the Manx quilt technique, which consists of folding fabric strips and assembling them in a log cabin style, and the traditional method of "tying" a quilt instead of quilting. The finished blocks are textured, layered and effortlessly intricate. This quilting technique can be used on a machine for super fast piecing, or hand-stitched for a more meditative process. You are welcome to hand stitch or machine sew, your choice! Login details will be sent the day before your class.

Home Preparation:
Students are also encouraged to bring additional textile swatches to incorporate. Good lighting is recommended so you can see your stitches!

Logging into our virtual classroom:
Instructions for our ZOOM login will be sent the day before class.

Kit includes:
-naturally dyed fabric (enough to make six 10 x 10 in. blocks, roughly 1.5 yards total in 4 different shades), and muslin for backing/foundation piecing
-needle
-thread for stitching and tying quilt
