In this relaxed beginner mixed media workshop students will learn to create three small studies and a larger final Cairn Collage (stacked paper rocks). Our virtual workshop begins with an introduction to basic watercolor techniques. Students will explore brush stroke and printing techniques, wet on wet vs. dry on wet, lifting as well as color mixing. Next, students will use India ink and monoprinting techniques to create layers of texture and reflective surfaces. Our new watercolor and printmaking skills will be combined to create complex surface designs. As our stack of our colorfully embellished papers dry, we will transform our rectangular sheets into organic shapes. Students will play with composition and color to create our final cairn collages. A welcome email will be sent the day before your workshop with login details for the class.
