VIRTUAL WORKSHOP: Beginner Watercolor

In this friendly and relaxed beginner workshop Oil and Cotton introduces students to the ins and outs of watercolor. Class begins with an overview of varieties of watercolor paper (cold press vs hot press), a survey of brush types, and discussion of paint options. Next we will create a color chart mapping your new palette, followed by exercises in color theory and watercolor technique. Students will explore brush stroke and printing, wet on wet vs. dry on wet, lifting as well color mixing. Class will end with a fun seashore inspired postcard painting that will totally hook you on your new favorite hobby. All materials provided. A welcome email will be sent the day before your workshop with login details for the class.

*Local kit pickup is available Tuesday, July 14-Wednesday 15, at Oil and Cotton from 2-4pm. Kits will be left on our back deck with your name clearly written. Please email with questions to [email protected].

*Distance learners can have their kits shipped only if you place your order by Friday , July 10. Or you can gather the materials included in the kit from home. For this class you will need watercolor paints, a brush, and paper (preferably watercolor or a heavy weight paper).

Kit includes:
3 sheets of 5” x 7” watercolor paper
-watercolor palette
-Angora opaque 24 color set (optional, click here to add)
-round brush

*If you would like to additional materials such watercolor paints, paper or brushes purchase from our website and we will add to your kit.
