Designed especially for the young artist. Explore a variety of art-making materials and concepts, while learning about artists from history. This small class fosters creative expression, motor skill development, classroom etiquette, and art tool safety.
Students are exposed to specific vocabulary and broad concepts. Take home practice sheets provide information for parents, who are encouraged to continue and reinforce the learning with art-making at home, using art terms to get specific about their creative works, and by visiting our local museums together as a family.
June classes will be offered virtually. We will announce July and August options by June 1. If you register for the full summer, we will honor your registration either virtually or in studio. When we begin offering classes in studio, we will also continue livestream options to include distance learners and those who prefer to stay home. Thank you for your support!
For virtual lessons: Parents should make space for art making and have clean up supplies like hand wipes and napkins near-by. After you register a link to your ZOOM classroom will be sent along with a welcome email that includes more information as well as a time to arrange kit pick-up. Shipping is available for distance learners.
Items not included in your kit, but needed are a pencil, paintbrushes, scissors, glue, water jar/basin, color dry drawing mediums (crayon/colored pencil/marker), apron, paper towel. Oil and Cotton has created Home Studio Kits ($30), available for purchase. Click here to get your kit if needed. Weekly Class Materials Kit (included) will have the lesson plan and all surfaces and special materials needed for each project.
