Stay late and decipher some of the cryptic mysteries of the art world, from anonymous artists to unique materials and weird subjects featured in works of art.

Spotlight Tour: College of Animals

Art Educator Laura Evans will talk about one of the most enigmatic paintings in the DMA’s collection, College of Animals by Cornelis Saftleven from 1655. 
Late Night Talk: The Anonymous Artist7:00 p.m.Join critic and art historian Julia Fiore for a brief history of anonymity in art. Why do artists like Banksy and the Guerrilla Girls choose to be anonymous, and how does that affect the impact of their work? How can we understand art by makers whose identity is unknown or lost to history?

Tour: How was it made? 
8:30 p.m.
On this interactive tour, artist Lesli Robertson will reveal how intricate raffia textiles from western Africa are woven using countless palm threads. 

Late Night Film: American Animals 
9 p.m.
American Animals is the unbelievable but true story of four young men who brazenly attempt to execute one of the most audacious art heists in US history. Determined to live lives that are out of the ordinary, they formulate a daring plan for the perfect robbery, only to discover that the plan has taken on a life of its own. This film is rated R (2018, 116 min.).

Insomniac Tour: Museum Mysteries

Join DMA McDermott Intern Lillie Burrow for a tour about mysteries in the American art collection, from strange objects like fuddling cups to ghostly images hidden in western landscape paintings.
