Mid-Cities Greek FoodFest

St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church

It’s OPA time in Euless! Join us for authentic Greek food, music and dancing at the 28th annual Mid-Cities Greek FoodFest on Oct. 18, 19 and 20 on the grounds of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 303 Cullum Dr., Euless. Parking and Admission: Free.

The Food. Where to begin? Try our Athenian, Spartan or Zorba Platters — generous plates of meats and Greek delicacies including a Greek salad and pita bread. Or if you prefer single servings, select items from the A la Carte menu such as Spanakopita (spinach pie) or Pastitsio (Greek lasagne). The Gyro Booth and Zeus Burgers are always a hit and, if you haven’t had the Saganaki (fried cheese) - it’s a must - the presentation never fails to delight. Make sure to leave room for something sweet from our homemade Greek pastries or perhaps, a yummy bowl of Loukoumades (fried dough) drizzled with honey or a Baklava Sundae. Greek or American coffee will complete the meal. Want something a bit stronger? Try a shot of Ouzo or an Ouzo slushy.

Cooking Demos. Inspired to cook Greek? Take a seat at our many food demos throughout the weekend. Our seasoned chefs will show you the secret behind many of the recipes used for the festival.

Entertainment. No Greek festival would be complete without music and ours is no exception. Laura and Andreas Mihalakeas form the duo, LAAND, and will perform throughout the weekend. Don’t miss the dance performances by the youth of our parish. They will perform traditional and modern Greek dances. Dance is a key element in the life of a Greek. Throughout history, the Greeks dance at religious festivals, in preparation for war and in celebration of victories. Every dance tells a story - so,  join us onstage - and, to paraphrase Zorba - we will teach you to dance!
Other items of note:

The Shopping. The MarketPlace has many imported Greek souvenirs including Greek-key design shawls, home goods, CDs, coin scarves and more.  We also carry Greek groceries from local merchant, Apollo the Greek. Other booths include jewelry, artwork, knitwear and candles. The Raffle. We have four awesome prizes this year - $5 per ticket, or six for $20, including a grand prize: four tickets and parking to the first-ever Texas Rangers game to be played at the new Globe Life Field.

Children’s Center. Make sure you bring the kids as there are lots of activities including games of chance, crafts, face-painting and henna designs. Our GOYA (Greek Orthodox Youth of
American) also will be on hand serving their famous frappes.

Church Tours. Join our parish priest Fr. Vasile Tudora for a tour inside our Byzantine church. We promise not only to satisfy your appetite but perhaps fill your soul with knowledge about our Orthodox faith that began more than 2000 years ago.
