Ticket Giveaway: Sofia Coppola's 'Somewhere'

by Stephen Becker 4 Jan 2011 3:48 PM

Sofia Coppola’s latest film, Somewhere, has gathered plenty of buzz since winning the Golden Lion at the 2010 Venice Film Festival. (How could a film made by a Coppola not do well in Venice?) In Somewhere, Coppola again explores a mismatched pair of personalities – a strategy she rode to great heights with 2003’s Lost in Translation. This time, Stephen Dorff plays a hard-partying actor who unexpectedly comes face-to-face with his 11-year-old daughter (Elle Fanning) from a failed marriage. When she comes to live with him at the famed Chateau Marmont, you can imagine how that might put a crimp in his lifestyle.

Somewhere opens on Friday at the Magnolia Theatre in Dallas. If it sounds like a film you might be interested in, Focus Features has generously passed along 10 pairs of run-of-engagement passes good at the Magnolia for us to give away to fans of Art&Seek. All you have to do is be one of the first 10 people to e-mail me ([email protected]) with Somewhere in the subject line and your complete name and mailing address in the e-mail and we’ll get he passes out to you.

And in a related note, the Whole Foods in Highland Park is hosting a free wine-tasting of Coppola Wines in conjunction with the movie’s release. That goes down Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. If you don’t win passes from us, there may be opportunity there to score some.

UPDATE – Thanks to everyone who entered. We have our winners.
