Ticket Giveaway: Skateland

by Stephen Becker 16 May 2011 9:34 AM

On Tuesday night, the very Texas-friendly Skateland will screen at the Studio Movie Grill in Dallas. The film is set in a small Texas town in the 1980s and focuses on a young guy who works at a skating rink and has bigger ambitions than most of the other kids he pals around with.

Skateland debuted last year at SXSW (where I saw it) and also played the Dallas International Film Festival (where I wrote about it). Though it was shot in Shreveport, the guys who made it all have strong Texas ties and a good touch for period details that make these kinds of films work. The soundtrack was spot on when I saw it (though some of the songs could be different depending on if the rights were secured beyond the film’s festival run. It’s complicated.)

If you’d like to see for yourself, we’ve got five pairs of reserved seats to giveaway to Tuesday night’s screening. Let me here from ya ([email protected]) and we’ll get the first five e-mailers set up.

UPDATE: Thanks, everyone – we’ve got our winners.
