The Big Deal: ‘Manzanar: The Wartime Photographs Of Ansel Adams’ At The Dallas Holocaust Museum

by Zoee Acosta 25 Apr 2018 8:32 AM

The Dallas Holocaust Museum invites you to experience history through the iconic photographs of Ansel Adams. “Manzanar: The Wartime Photographs of Ansel Adams,” tells the often forgotten story of Japanese-Americans who were forcibly imprisoned in an internment camp in California during World War II following the Japanese military attack on Pearl Harbor. Adams, the photographer known for his captivating landscapes of the American West, was invited to photograph internees at the Manzanar War Relocation Center between 1943 and 1944. The result: riveting photographs of the faces, the living quarters, and the day-to-day lives of Americans denied their civil rights and held prisoner due to their ancestry. “Manzanar: The Wartime Photographs of Ansel Adams,” the must-see exhibition with a timeless lesson for students, families, and adults alike, is on view through August 14.

The winner of this Big Deal will receive a three-month family membership to the Dallas Holocaust Museum/Center for Education and Tolerance. The membership is good for admission for four people to the museum and special exhibitions like “Manzanar,” and access to special events – that are not fundraisers – for free for three months.

Be sure to check out our other deals this week including a chance to win tickets to the “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” screening at the Dallas International Film Festival or to see “From the Land of Asia: the Sam and Myrna Myers Collection” at the Kimbell Art Museum.
