In his paintings, American painter George Caleb Bingham depicts commerce and daily life on and along the river during the 19th century. The exhibition, Navigating the West: George Caleb Bingham and the River, offers glimpses of life on the waterways, as well as insight into the creative painting process of one of America’s greatest artist. Also, on display is a massive, massive work by Bingham contemporary, John J. Egan that cannot be missed.
