The Big Deal: Great Art on Screen – Munch 150 at the Angelika

by Gila Espinoza 3 Jul 2013 7:49 AM

The Angelika Film Center continues screening the series “Exhibition: Great Art on Screen.” The series brings great art exhibitions at major galleries and museums around the world to cinema audiences. In July, the Angelika will screen Munch 150.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Expressionist painter Edvard Munch. The Norwegian artist, whose works often explore desolate psychological themes, is best known for the haunting image The Scream. The exhibition presents 220 works by Munch and divides them between the National Gallery and the Munch Museum, both in Oslo. In addition to viewing the works in wide-screen detail, the audience also witnesses the behind-the-scenes workings of a major international art exhibition. But this Big Deal winner and guest will only have to travel as far as the Angelika Film Center in Dallas to experience the exhibition July 10 at 7 p.m.

Remember Big Deal winners are chosen from our Art&Seek e-newsletter subscribers, so if you have not signed up for the newsletter yet, you can take care of that here.
